Job Summary
Supervises personnel in bus cleaning, bus fueling, and other servicing of Metro vehicles.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Performs Maintenance and Material Management (M3) operations to complete daily payroll entries, attendance, and necessary deviations; inputs and verifies payroll authorizations
  • Implements and maintains safety programs; conducts weekly safety meetings
  • Ensures bus servicing and cleaning practices comply with environmental regulations
  • Safeguards natural resources and ensures resources are used efficiently
  • Provides support in the remediation of fluid spills
  • Trains subordinates on proper bus servicing of vehicles, deep cleans, minor cleans, daily cleanliness requirements, procedures, and functions of M3
  • Investigates accidents or injuries in service yard and makes entries into TransitSafe
  • Monitors vehicle mileage for scheduling of deep cleans and works with all shifts to maintain within mileage schedules
  • Performs daily check fueling station and bus washing equipment and ensures maintenance of related service equipment is scheduled, completed, and functioning properly
  • Conducts hearings on attendance violations and discipline
  • Oversees fare box vaulting operations
  • Develops and coordinates overall division cleanliness plan and monitors the plan with all three shifts
  • Directs special cleaning projects, such as graffiti removal and fumigation/roach abatement and window/seat replacement
  • Coordinates the availability of vehicles for various campaigns
  • Supervises subordinates and works closely with all three shift Service Attendant Leaders and Equipment Maintenance Supervisors
  • Reviews subordinate daily work performance and discusses areas for improvement as necessary
  • Provides related reports for bus cleanliness activities and programs
  • Reviews bus cleanliness inspection results, identifies areas for improvement, and develops action plan to improve category ratings
  • Reviews analysis report regarding test results of vehicle fluids such as engine, transmission, methanol, oils, and antifreeze to determine corrective action required when assigned to the Quality Assurance Section
  • Oversees the evacuation of the wastewater processing system, packaging of solid and liquid hazardous/non-hazardous waste, and reviews and signs transporting documents associated with the removal of waste from Metro facilities
  • Provides support to staff to ensure compliance with environmental regulations/laws regarding the packaging, labeling, and storage of hazardous waste and assists with the remediation of material releases and biowaste cleanup incidents
  • Performs new employee evaluations and provides additional training as applicable
  • Accounts for subordinates and personal compliance with all of Metro′s safety rules, polices, and procedures
  • Contributes to ensuring that the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) policies and programs of Metro are carried out

Minimum Qualifications
A combination of education and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position. Additional experience, as outlined below, may be substituted for required education on a year-for-year basis. A typical combination includes:

Education
  • Associate's Degree in a related field preferred

Experience
  • Three years of relevant experience in the servicing of vehicles

Certifications/Licenses/Special Requirements
  • Valid California Class C Driver License
  • Requires complete sensory and physical abilities
  • Shift work
  • Must comply with all California Occupational Safety and Health Administration (Cal/OSHA) regulations and utilize approved safety equipment and personal protective gear including, but not limited to, respirators, eye and hearing protective devices (HPD), if and when required
