Job Summary
Under moderate supervision, performs complex clerical duties and maintains accurate training records on all new hire employees that require Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) certification and current employees that require re-certification; assists in organizing and coordinating class schedules for instructors and students/new employees.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Reviews, maintains, and updates new hire employee list for completeness and accuracy on first day
  • Reviews daily employee attendance sheets until training completion to track and report employee progress and development
  • Processes paperwork for new employees
  • Processes final paperwork for employees being terminated from training and requests special checks from payroll
  • Maintains calendar and coordinates and schedules training classes
  • Provides appropriate DMV forms and schedules DMV appointments for all students
  • Processes Uniform/Shoe vouchers
  • Prepares letters, memoranda, forms, and reports
  • Gathers, inputs, maintains, and updates various complex lists, logs, and departmental records on a daily basis
  • Responds to inquiries from DMV, other departments, and employees regarding procedures and training records
  • Answers telephones and acts as an office receptionist for staff and new hires
  • Maintains, supports, and promotes a safe work environment while complying with all of Metro′s safety rules, policies, and procedures
  • Contributes to ensuring that the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) policies and programs of Metro are carried out

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Filing materials alphabetically, numerically, and chronologically
  • Maintaining complex records

  • Preparing correspondence and reports
  • Proofreading work and identifying errors
  • Dealing tactfully and communicating effectively with others
  • Typing 50 net words per minute

  • Compile and update training materials

Minimum Qualifications
A combination of education and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position. Additional experience, as outlined below, may be substituted for required education on a year-for-year basis. A typical combination includes:

  • None required

  • Two years of relevant experience performing manual and computerized recordkeeping and other complex clerical work
