Job Summary
Under moderate supervision, operates armored truck to pick up and deliver fare revenues. A Leader receives additional pay for each hour worked as stipulated by the appropriate collective bargaining agreement.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Prepares blank slips, manifests for empty cash vaults, and other records related to work
  • Operates armored truck to pick up and deliver vault carts to and from division locations and the Central Cash Counting Office
  • Loads and unloads vault carts using lift gate
  • Moves vault carts to and from loading areas
  • Services and replenishes ticket stock on Ticket Vending Machines
  • Fuels and periodically inspects vault trucks
  • May operate forklift to load and unload vault carts from rental trucks
  • Leads employees by assigning work and providing training
  • Complies with all of Metro's safety rules, policies, and procedures
  • Contributes to ensuring that the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) policies and programs of Metro are carried out

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of (defined as a learned body of information that is required for and applied in the performance of job tasks)
  • Vehicle operation rules and regulations
  • Basic arithmetic
  • Basic accounting methods

  • Performing simple arithmetical computations and tabulating figures with speed and accuracy

  • Interacting professionally with various levels of Metro employees and outside representatives

  • Follow oral and written instructions
  • Operate a 20-ton armored truck and forklift to load vault carts
  • Maneuver vault carts and mobile safes weighing up to 700 pounds
  • Lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Read, write, speak, and understand English
Minimum Qualifications
A combination of education and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position. Additional experience, as outlined below, may be substituted for required education on a year-for-year basis. A typical combination includes:

  • None Required

Experience
  • Six months of relevant experience driving buses or trucks and performing cashiering or clerical accounting duties

Certifications/Licenses/Special Requirements
  • Must comply with all California Occupational Safety and Health Administration (Cal/OSHA) regulations and utilize approved safety equipment and personal protective gear including, but not limited to, respirators, eye and hearing protective devices (HPD), if and when required
  • Valid California Class B Commercial Driver License
  • Must pass a security clearance check
  • Designated as a PAD position and is excluded from the seniority provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement
  • Subject to periodic unannounced searches of his/her person and belongings
  • Positions in this classification are considered safety sensitive under Federal Transit Administration (FTA) drug and alcohol regulations
